La ville de Pablo Robles, cible des météorites, est mise en quarantaine. Llibérée, Imogène a retrouvé le docteur Lehman. Il peut localiser la trajectoire du météore géant qui va s'écraser sur la Terre. Alors qu'ils embarquent à bord d'un hélicoptère en direction de Washington, un météore tombe sur l'appareil et blesse grièvement Lehman, le seul à connaître l'algorithme permettant de détruire «Pénélope» avant qu'il ne percute la Terre.
